How to Install IPTV on Firestick

Ryan Fernandez·Updated

To install IPTV on a Firestick, enable Apps from Unknown Sources in Settings, install the Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore, then use it to sideload a player such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro. Open the player, choose Xtream Codes API login, and enter the server URL, username and password your provider sent you. The whole process takes about five minutes and needs no computer, no rooting and no PC-side sideloading tools.

Setup in About 5 Minutes

  1. 1Turn on Developer Options and allow unknown apps for Downloader.
  2. 2Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore.
  3. 3Use Downloader to install an IPTV player (TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro).
  4. 4Log in with the Xtream Codes details from your welcome message.

Allow longer on the first launch while the player downloads the TV guide for a large playlist.

The Amazon Firestick is a low-cost, widely available streaming stick, and because most models run Android-based Fire OS, it can run the same IPTV players as an Android TV box. This guide covers two players: TiviMate, which has a grid TV guide built for remotes, and IPTV Smarters Pro, which is free and simple to set up. New to the idea? Our full guide to One IPTV shows how a single subscription on your Firestick replaces cable and every streaming app.

Before you start, make sure you have your Tivimate credentials ready — your Server URL, Username, and Password are sent via WhatsApp once you pick a Tivimate IPTV plan. Don't have a subscription yet? Start your free 24-hour trial.

What You Need

  • ✓ Amazon Firestick or Fire TV Cube running Fire OS
  • ✓ Active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection (10 Mbps+ recommended)
  • ✓ Tivimate credentials (Server URL, Username, Password)
  • ✓ 5 minutes of your time

Amazon's newer Vega OS devices (starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Select) don't run Android apps, so the sideloading steps below don't apply to them. Check under Settings → My Fire TV → About. For bandwidth by video quality, see the FCC's broadband speed guide.

Method 1: TiviMate on Firestick

Recommended

TiviMate is a popular IPTV player for Fire TV and Android TV, with a grid TV guide (EPG), multi-view and catch-up support. The basic app is free; some features need TiviMate Premium. TiviMate is a third-party player developed by Armobsoft FZE and listed on Google Play. It is not our product and includes no channels. It isn't in the Amazon Appstore, which is why it is installed with Downloader.

Step 1: Enable Developer Options

  1. 1Press the Home button on your Firestick remote.
  2. 2Go to Settings (gear icon) → My Fire TV.
  3. 3If Developer Options isn't listed, open About and click your device name seven times until you see "You are now a developer".
  4. 4Go back and open Developer Options.
  5. 5Turn on Install unknown apps for Downloader (on older Fire OS versions the switch is called Apps from Unknown Sources). You can do this after Step 2 if Downloader isn't installed yet.
  6. 6Leave ADB debugging off unless you need it for another tool.

Step 2: Install the Downloader App

  1. 1Press the Home button and go to the Search bar (magnifying glass icon).
  2. 2Type 'Downloader' and select the app by AFTVnews.
  3. 3Click Download / Get and wait for it to install.
  4. 4Open Downloader and allow storage permissions when prompted.

Step 3: Download and Install TiviMate

  1. 1Open Downloader and enter the TiviMate download code or URL in the address bar (see the link below).
  2. 2Tap Go and wait for the download to complete.
  3. 3When prompted, tap Install.
  4. 4After installation, tap Open to launch TiviMate. Downloader will offer to delete the installer file — you can, to save space.

The current code and how to check you're getting the genuine app are in our Downloader code guide for TiviMate. Avoid modified or "premium unlocked" APKs from unknown sites.

Step 4: Add Your Tivimate Playlist

  1. 1In TiviMate, tap Add Playlist on the welcome screen.
  2. 2Select Xtream Codes.
  3. 3Enter your Tivimate Server URL in the URL field.
  4. 4Enter your Username and Password (from your WhatsApp activation message). They are case-sensitive.
  5. 5Tap Next — TiviMate checks the login and shows how many channels it found. Name the playlist and tap Done.
  6. 6Open the TV Guide to browse channels once the guide has finished loading.

💡 If the Xtream Codes login is rejected, add the M3U playlist link from your welcome message instead. See when to use M3U instead of Xtream Codes.

Method 2: IPTV Smarters Pro on Firestick (Free)

IPTV Smarters Pro is a free IPTV player with a simple menu layout and separate sections for live TV, movies and series. It is a good option if you're setting up IPTV for the first time. Only download it from its developer's official website.

  1. 1Enable Developer Options (same as Method 1, Step 1 above).
  2. 2Install the Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore.
  3. 3Open Downloader and enter the IPTV Smarters Pro download URL from the developer's official website.
  4. 4Install the APK when the download completes.
  5. 5Open IPTV Smarters Pro and tap Add User.
  6. 6Select Login with Xtream Codes API.
  7. 7Enter your Tivimate Server URL, Username, and Password.
  8. 8Tap Add User — your live channels, movies, series and TV guide will load.

Firestick IPTV Troubleshooting

❓ App won't install

Make sure Install unknown apps is turned on for Downloader (or Apps from Unknown Sources on older Fire OS). If Fire TV blocks the file, it may be a modified APK — download it again from the official source. TiviMate Downloader code guide.

❓ Wrong credentials / authorization error

Double-check your Server URL, Username, and Password. Copy-paste from your WhatsApp message to avoid typos, and make sure you aren't over your device limit. Fixing authorization errors.

❓ Channels not loading

Check your internet connection speed. You need 10 Mbps+ for HD and 25 Mbps+ for 4K. More causes and fixes.

Performance Tips for Firestick

  • ▸Go wired if you can. Amazon's Ethernet adapter for Fire TV plugs into the stick's power port and gives a steadier connection than Wi-Fi. On Wi-Fi, connect to the 5 GHz band and use the HDMI extender that came in the box to move the stick away from the back of the TV.
  • ▸Restart regularly. Settings → My Fire TV → Restart, or hold Select and Play/Pause on the remote for about five seconds. This clears memory used by background apps.
  • ▸Clear the player's cache. Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → select the player → Clear cache. Avoid Clear data unless you are ready to re-add your playlist.
  • ▸Free up storage. Uninstall apps you don't use. Firesticks have limited storage, and a nearly full device slows down.
  • ▸Check the buffer setting. TiviMate's playback settings include a buffer size option. A larger buffer can smooth an unsteady connection at the cost of a slightly slower channel start.
  • ▸A VPN is a trade-off. It can help if your ISP slows streaming traffic, but it adds latency and some services block VPN addresses. Test with it on and off — see does IPTV work with a VPN?
