TiviMate error codes are mostly status numbers sent back by your IPTV provider's server, not faults in the app. Codes in the 400s, such as 401, 403 and 404, mean the request was refused: wrong login, blocked access or a missing stream. Codes in the 500s, such as 502 and 503, mean the provider's server failed. 458 is a non-standard code that usually signals an expired account or too many connections.
When a channel fails, TiviMate shows the reason it was given. Usually that is a three-digit number from the server it tried to reach; sometimes it is a short message from the app’s own video engine. Reading the number correctly tells you whether to spend time on your own setup or to contact your provider. TiviMate is a third-party player by Armobsoft FZE, and its developer publishes no list of codes — what follows is what the numbers mean as web standards, plus how IPTV servers commonly use them.
The Rule of Thumb
- 4xx — the request was refused. Something about your login, your address or the channel address is not acceptable to the server. Often fixable from your side.
- 5xx — the server failed. Your request was fine. Only the provider can fix it; your job is to wait or report it.
- Words, not numbers — the app could not play what it received. Usually a decoder or network matter on the device.
TiviMate Error Codes at a Glance
| Code | Name | What it means | Who fixes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 401 | Unauthorized | The server did not accept the username or password. | You — re-enter the login |
| 403 | Forbidden | The login is recognised but access is refused: account disabled, address or region blocked, VPN refused, or too many connections. | You, then provider |
| 404 | Not found | That stream address no longer exists. The channel was removed, renamed or moved. | You — refresh the playlist |
| 429 | Too many requests | The server is limiting how often you connect, often after rapid channel hopping or repeated retries. | You — wait, then retry |
| 456 / 458 | Non-standard | Provider-specific. Commonly an expired or blocked account, or the connection limit reached. | Provider |
| 500 | Internal server error | The provider's server failed while handling the request. | Provider |
| 502 / 504 | Bad gateway / timeout | A server in front of the stream could not reach the source in time. | Provider |
| 503 | Service unavailable | The server is overloaded or down for maintenance. | Provider |
| 509 | Bandwidth limit | The server or account has used its bandwidth allowance. | Provider |
401 and 403: Access Refused
These two cover most login trouble. Work through them in this order:
- Open Settings → Playlists, select the playlist, and re-enter the server address, username and password. Watch for capital letters and a space at the end.
- Confirm the subscription has not expired. Providers rarely send a reminder.
- Close the app on every other device and try again. An account at its connection limit refuses the next device.
- Turn off any VPN, or change its location, and retry.
- If the provider told you to set a specific user agent, check that it is still entered in the playlist’s settings. Some servers reject players that do not identify themselves as expected.
If all five are in order, the account has been disabled or restricted at the provider’s end.
404: The Stream Has Gone
Providers reorganise channels regularly, and a playlist stored on your device keeps the old addresses until it is refreshed. Update the playlist from its settings screen. If the channel is still missing afterwards, it has been removed from the service. A whole playlist returning 404 points to a server address that has changed; ask the provider for the current one.
456 and 458: Provider-Specific Codes
Neither number is defined by web standards, so there is no single correct meaning. In practice IPTV servers send them to refuse an account: expired, blocked, or over its connection limit. Treat them as a 403 with a different label — re-enter the login, reduce the number of devices, then ask the provider. The connections guide explains how limits are counted.
500, 502, 503, 504 and 509: Server-Side Failures
These mean the server could not serve the stream. They tend to appear on many channels at once and during busy periods. Check a few channels from different groups: if they all fail, the service is having an outage; if one group fails, that source is down. Waiting ten minutes and retrying is reasonable. Reinstalling the app or re-adding the playlist will not help and risks losing your setup.
Messages Without a Number
| Message (wording varies by version) | Likely cause | Try |
|---|---|---|
| Source error | The stream stopped or sent data the player could not read | Reopen the channel; try its alternative version |
| Decoder or renderer error | The device cannot decode that video format in hardware | Switch to the software decoder for that channel |
| Behind live window | Playback fell too far behind the live stream, usually after a stall | Reopen the channel; see the buffering fix |
| Unable to connect / timeout | No route to the server: local network, DNS or a blocked address | Test another app; restart the router |
| Black screen, no message | Stream is playing but the picture cannot be shown | See the black screen fix |
What to Tell Your Provider
A useful report takes one message and saves several replies:
- The exact code or message.
- Which channels are affected, and whether all or some.
- When it started, and whether it is constant or only at certain times.
- What you have already tried — re-entering the login, refreshing the playlist, switching off the VPN.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does error 458 mean in TiviMate?
458 is not a standard web status code. IPTV servers use it for their own purposes, most often to refuse a login because the subscription has expired, the account is blocked, or more devices are connected than the plan allows. Re-enter your details, close the app on other devices, and if it persists ask your provider what their server means by it.
Are TiviMate error codes generated by the app?
Mostly not. The three-digit numbers are responses from the provider's server, which TiviMate simply displays. That is why the same code appears in other player apps on the same subscription, and why the fix usually involves the account or the server rather than the app.
Why do I get an error on one channel only?
A single channel failing while others play means that particular stream is missing or down at the provider. Refresh the playlist in case the channel has moved, try an alternative version of the channel if the playlist has one, and report it to the provider if it stays down.
Can a VPN cause TiviMate errors?
Yes. Some servers refuse connections from known VPN addresses and answer with 403. Others lock an account to the first address that used it. If errors began when you turned a VPN on, switch it off or change server location and test again.
